What if...

There was a high school focused on high academic standards, and increased student engagement,

a high school focused on critical thinking, leadership, and innovation,

a high school with experienced staff and a fresh approach to secondary education?

Welcome to...

Cedar Ridge

High School

Grades 9-12

At Cedar Ridge, we never stop learning. Our students are taught in small groups and supported by caring qualified educators. We offer a one of a kind program that includes a strong leadership component. Our students, run their own student council, organize fundraising events in the community, write their own school policy documents and make important decisions about their school environment. To further stretch their leadership skills, students at Cedar Ridge are also offered the opportunity to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

We can't teach tomorrow's leaders in yesterday's classrooms. Our high school offers students the opportunity to learn in a one of a kind modern learning commons. Resembling a modern start-up space, the learning commons is designed to facilitate communication, collaboration and creativity. The space allows students to easily work in large groups, small groups and independently. This 21st Century learning space fuels innovation, teamwork and critical thinking. At Cedar Ridge, we aren’t just preparing students for university; we are preparing them for life.

Cedar Ridge is committed to preparing students for the post-secondary program of their choice. Our program is 100% aligned with the Ontario curriculum and awards students an Ontario Secondary School Diploma. By providing students choice and voice, students at Cedar Ridge immerse themselves in projects and topics that are interesting and authentic. From mock elections, to engineering tasks, students at Cedar Ridge are engaged and challenged. Students develop strong academic skills as well as transferable skills like team work, problem solving and time management.

Students at Cedar Ridge can choose from a broad range of courses as they work towards an Ontario Secondary School Diploma.

From arts to advanced math we offer options to prepare students for the post secondary program of their choice.

If you don’t see the subject you are looking for, let us know. Every term we add new courses to match student’s requests and interests.

What’s the Cedar Ridge Difference?

Wouldn’t it be great to have more choice at school?

At Cedar Ridge we believe students should be engaged in their learning, and we also understand the importance of a strong academic record. Cedar Ridge offers personalized education which means we cater to everyone’s interests and skills. It’s a lot easier to learn when you have creative, caring, educators and small class sizes. Students generally see an increase of at least 10% in their overall academic average. So whether you are looking for academic enrichment or a little extra support, we are here to make sure you get what you need for your future.

  • Community

Students genuinely enjoy being together as a community of learners at Cedar Ridge no matter what grade they are in. It’s a fun place where together, students collaborate on group activities solving problems while further developing their critical thinking and communication skills. Every student has a voice and everyone is part of a trusting and tight-knit community.

  • Engagement

Students and educators come to school excited to learn and work together. The small class sizes give educators time to go in depth with their lessons and to provide plenty of one-on-one support. Students love the productive learning environment where they have some flexibility in their day; they independently identify a priority list of tasks and complete them. Engagement is a way of life at “The Ridge”.

  • Adventure

Every Fall students participate in an outdoor adventure leadership retreat. We go on exciting field trips and love to provide students with experiences to learn in the real world. Several of our activities focus on environmental sustainability. Many students are working towards their Duke of Edinburgh Award, which challenges them to look beyond their comfort zones, tap into their sense of discovery and explore the wonders of the great outdoors.

  • Technology

At Cedar Ridge we equip students with a solid foundation of technology skills. These skills are essential to daily life in university and in the workplace in all disciplines from medicine to arts to law to engineering. Technology is embraced and integrated into everything we do, giving students a head start and competitive edge for the future.
